About Us
Sleepless No More® started by resolving couples’ temperature incompatibilites in bed!
While marketing the Compatibility Blanket®, and listening to the concerns of hundreds of people around their sleep patterns and problems, Elizabeth Shannon found that many people had little or no idea about sleep technology.
“It’s unfortunate that the truckloads of free information available about sleep is repetitious, obvious and unorganised” Shannon states. “It’s enough to make you fall asleep, but unfortunately it doesn’t.”
The Sleepless No More website commenced as an information resource.
Shannon has initiated expert interviews and will shortly be running sleep seminars in Australia – bringing expert knowledge to the stage, and most importantly - practical solutions to sleeping better.
LACK OF SLEEP
- Effects about 30% of the population at some stage in their lives
- Increases the probability of accidents and risk taking behaviours – effecting the workplace and productivity
- Increases the probability of becoming overweight
- Adversely effects relationships
- If chronic, can lead to a psychological downward spiral
In March 2007 in Sydney it was reported that an Australian federal health watchdog was to review the safety of a certain sleeping pill following the death of a man who had, allegedly, fallen to his death from his 12th floor unit (and had allegedly been prescribed this tablet). Other adverse reports have included people driving while asleep, sleepwalking, behaving abnormally, etc.

PROBLEMS
- Addiction to sleeping pills
- Undiagnosed and untreated reasons for sleep disorders (such as depression)
- Sleeplessness due to adverse food additives
- Treatment of the effect, not the cause of sleep deprivation
- Insomnia can be a side-effect of some prescription medicines and over-the-counter medications, either directly or indirectly
- An inability to find quality information and help from a central location
FACTS
-
The use of sleeping pills is controversial. They are at best a short-term solution. They have reduced effectiveness over time, and can be addictive if not used correctly (causing problems for many when withdrawing).
-
Expert advice indicates that for some, the correct withdrawal from sleeping tablets can take up to 18 months. Refer www.benzo.org.uk.
-
Overheating in bed reduces your REM (rapid eye movement) sleep and adversely effects a number of skin conditions.
-
Many people are reluctant to go to their general practitioner for fear of being prescribed sleeping tablets.
-
Proper exercise alone can help many people sleep better.
Sleepless No More® is dedicated to your best night’s sleep.
Our mission is to provide an extraordinary level of service around sleep
by providing you with access to world class information,
natural products and technologies,
which will assist you in
maximising the most under-rated third of your life … your sleep time.
Sleepless No More are not medical doctors, or health professionals. “We are average people, like you, who were looking for quality information and found it was hard to find,” Elizabeth says. “We’d heard the obvious stuff (like not drinking coffee before bed), and like everyone else we didn’t want to sift through piles of medical journals to find solutions.” “We certainly don’t have all the answers, we doubt anyone has,” she stated.
There are people who might be able to fix their insomnia with some good sleep habits, a lifestyle change, or maybe a hard decision. Others may recognise serious depression (or some other aspect of their lives) that is actually the problem, and need expert specific help in order to move forward. In all cases, research and due consideration is recommended.
Some people have found relief through very simple solutions, such as exercising, playing the hypnosis CDs at bedtime, or drinking the valerian tea. Some find solutions in books (like the new technology called “tapping”, or doing the self-help exercises in the anxiety workbook).
Most are happy to use trial and error to find solutions, especially when they are presented with information and a range of valuable options.
“Without a good night’s sleep, everything else gets ugly” Elizabeth Shannon
“Sleepless No More® hopes that you regain your astuteness, vitality, optimism and energy as you achieve your best night’s sleep.”
